INSULATING GLASS COMPONENTS: Sealants

Secondary Sealants
Hot Melt Butyl
Two Part Sealants

Hot Melt Butyl:

adco3070ADCOTHERM™ 3070HS is a high strength single-seal insulating glass hot melt sealant. Offering exceptional slump resistance, ADCOTHERM 3070HS is designed to minimize the need for after-application tooling and repair in order to reduce labor time, glove costs and total production time per unit.

ADCOTHERM 3070HS is optimized for insulated glass manufacturers running hand applied operations using pumps, and due to improved viscosity, it is able to be extruded on automated lines as well.

In addition to excellent slump resistance, ADCOTHERM 3070HS also offers the following performance advantages:

  • Immediate high strength development for superior handling and transportation capabilities.
  • Low after-application tack for easier handling and reduced glove costs.
  • Low argon permeability and exceptional MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rates).
  • Excellent adhesion to glass and metal for long lasting integrity.

An ADCOTHERM 3070HS sealed window has sufficient strength at the end-of-line to withstand more than 4 times the shear stress associated with an unsupported residential lite, even at elevated temperatures of 140°F. No other sealant on the market provides that level of protection.

Two-Part Sealants:
polysulphideGD 116
Two component polysulphide sealant with low gas diffusion value, high resistance and high elasticity

Product-specific features:

  • tested to DIN 1286 part 1 and part 2 and to prEN 1279 Part 2, Part 3 and others
  • blending of A and B components is not batch sensitive
  • low gas diffusion value
  • relatively long pot life in relation to the short curing time
  • long pot life means longer service life reducing purging and cleaning times
  • pot life and curing time can be adjusted quickly and easily by changing the B component
  • bonds well with the primary seal
  • easy to process on both sealing robots and manual sealing devices
  • excellent flow properties which mean lower machine pressures and reduced machine wear
  • bonds well with glass, aluminium and steel
  • relatively insensitive to fluctuations in dosage
